You downloaded it with Safari... I don't have OS X but as my knowledge this could be a type of error caused by Gatekeeper... The installer should be flagged with the com.apple.quarantine attribute, thus causing Gatekeeper to force this error. Try this: open Terminal, surf to the folder containing the package, and then type xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine metasploitframework-latest.pkg
I don't know if R7 signed the MSF for OS X, but having files signed on modern Mac is very very important, otherwise execution/installation get stopped.
This issue has been left open with no activity for a while now.
We get a lot of issues, so we currently close issues after 60 days of inactivity. It’s been at least 30 days since the last update here.
