Describe the change being requested
Add an RSEConf 'In practice' section to the SSI-EOG

State the reason for the change
Include a larger event as an 'In practice' section - longer term update the core SSI-EOG with any changes needed.

Describe the impact of the change on other parts of the SSI-EOG
In the short term nothing but in the longer term there will be reflection after the 'In practice' guide is published to see what changes need to be made to the main part of the SSI-EOG

Describe any alternatives you have considered (if applicable)
N/A

Additional context

There are key things which this guide would bring:

  • A different committee structure / a large committee structure (programme, talks, publicity) / a call for committee members
  • A call for volunteers
  • Budget focus (it funds the RSE Society)
  • Sponsorship items and focus
  • Venue checklist are different - to allow easier comparison of the venue
  • Other aspects of a larger event vs CW (100 ish) - RSEConf (300-400)

The plan is now for RSEConf2022 to be the template for this - with regular meetings with Shoaib and Claire to check what's being recorded and how it matches the 'In practice' sections of SSI-EOG - so the information collection should be from Jan 2022 to Sept 2022 and then the write up should be by end of year 2022 or early 2023.
