Suggestion from Alethia:

in addition to "seen" it would be nice to have a "seen last" or... I'm not sure which wording would be good, but whichever passage (or section) was seen immediately prior to opening this passage or section. It gives a streamlined way of noting what sort of transition is necessary.

Maybe this could be displayed in the lower console? I have a hard time tracking where I am in the story when I'm testing it.
