Editor must be pluggable for special language features. Malayalam has a spellchecker, but others don't. So, the code must have special nuances to have separate things for languages. Everything is not common.

Also, identify languages by their ISO code : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ISO_639-2_codes
