Metaphor is a derivative work of MetaGenePipe, originally released under the Apache 2.0 license, developed by Bobbie Shaban, Mar Quiroga, Robert Turnbull and Edoardo Tescari at Melbourne Data Analytics Platform (MDAP) at the University of Melbourne. Link to MetaGenePipe.
The parts of Metaphor that are heavily based on MetaGenePipe are the QC module (with fastp), followed by the assembly with MegaHIT, gene prediction with Prodigal and annotation with Diamond. All other modules of Metaphor, e.g. the binning module, custom scripts (including plots), input validation, utility functions, CLI interface [...] are original from Metaphor.
