  • Scatter gold coins about the floor
  • Include real-world randomness such as dead-ends, doors that can never be opened, chests whose keys are forever lost, etc.
  • Items that must be unlocked to release their full potential.
  • Think of ways to make full use of your scripting ability. Find ways to make things in the game "intelligent" and interactive. Connected. Puzzles. Ultimately, I don't want this space to be devoid of everything but the tower house. I want it to be beautiful. A sight to behold.
  • Use lights that are of radically different colors. In a room that is primarily gold, put a sudden very cold-colored light.
  • Can I put objects floating in the air like this:

  • Put vegetation next to water sources.
  • Put FXSwirls above fires
  • Use Nordic Traps
  • Invent puzzles like the one in the Luftahaaran dungeon
  • Think of how people would use an area. Pipes that go into or out of a water source. Architecture relative to light sources, etc.
  • Don't forget to clutter with
    • Bug jars
    • Bugs
  • Make the house portion completely seamless. The user does not want to wait on loading doors to get from area to area.
  • Idea: Stone floor that is in strips with lava underneath that shows through in the openings
  • Watch all of the Lord of the Rings movies to get inspiration
  • Make a hallway that looks like it's crumbled in and a dead-end and make it actually the right way to go.

  • Use lots of animations! Use animated floors and use animations and effects on the player when certain things happen like in Familiar Faces.
