As a separate project, maybe using the reftree library.

Note that the reporting has been greatly improved and accurately reports the execution of a fetch so this should be doable now.

I've been working on this. I'm going to write a blog post about it but the project is already available on github https://github.com/justinhj/hnfetchjs
