Advertising overload - Ads like crazy for the last few days

Has anyone else suddenly started seeing loads of adverts?

I get two at the start of every video now, then another exactly on 1min, then another 2 ads every minute after that - on every video I watch. I use a Sony Bravia Android TV.

It's been working great with almost* no ads at all for months prior. *I did notice a month or so ago that it started displaying a single static jpg advert on the first screen when I open the app (but no video ads at all, up until a few days ago).

Does this product auto-update itself? How do I turn that off and go back to the version that was working?
