Project Domain Example

This project is the template for the standard configuration of domains in Payara DevOps managed projects.

DevOps Objective: Payara Confluence | Project Domain SOP

Author: James Hillyard

Usage

This template uses placeholders which you should replace before using it. Specifically in nginx.conf and init-letsencrypt.sh. After copying the contents of those two files into your local environment, ensure you replace example.payara.fish with your domain.

In nginx.conf you also must replace the placeholders in the line proxy_pass http://[CONTAINER_NAME]:[CONTAINER_PORT];. Replace [CONTAINER_NAME] with the name of the service you wish to forward to defined in your docker-compose.yml and replace [CONTAINER_PORT] with the port to access that container.

Multi-Domain Certificates

If you do not require multi-domain support, this section and it's information can be ignored.

When prompted for domains, you can enter multiple domain names separated with a space, E.g www.payara.fish payara.fish and this will generate a single certificate that supports both domain names.

Warning

The order you list the domains in matters. In the nginx.conf file you will have entered a domain name for the ssl_certificate and ssl_certificate_key options. It is important that the first domain you list matches whatever you put for these options. Failure to do so will cause the script to fail and the certificates will not generate, because nginx cannot start.
