Welcome to the Ganimed wiki!

Ganimed is a tool to create an animated GIF or an animated PNG

  • either from images captured from screen
  • or from a series of single image files (i.e. extracted from a video or a bunch of stop-motion photos)

Features:

  • capture a desired movie-sqeuence directly from your video player
  • easy cut, crop and resize images and adjust framerate
  • instant feedback in GUI
  • extra delay for last image

How to create an animated GIF or PNG:

First step is to get a series of single images. Either capture them from screen or put them in a folder.

How to extract images from a movie

  1. Select images

Images FPS: Enter the framerate of the existing images (folder) or images you are going to capture.

Images folder: If you want to use existing images, select the desired folder.

Select screen region: Select the screen region to capture.

Capture: Start screen capturing. The button is disabled if there is no screen region selected or if there is already an animation loaded (use File > Close Images in that case).

Colour quantizer

There´s still only 'Median Cut' so there´s nothing to select. I intend to add 'Octree', but that´s not really on top of my list :-)

Hope Ganimed is useful to you :-)
