This is a draft schedule and is still undergoing change:

Note: Main times given below are in AEDT (Australian Eastern Daylight Time) as used in Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, and elsewhere in NSW, ACT and Vic. Brisbane times are also given. Anyone wishing to join in from other timezones is welcome (eg feel free to use the data and communicate with everyone else on the day using Twitter (#envirohack) or the Envirohack Facebook page.

9am (8am Brisbane) Coffee, misc chatting re the data sets and ideas for hacking
9:30 (8:30am Brisbane) Welcome and intro to the data sets, some tools and some idea seeding
10am (9am Brisbane) Hacking
3:30pm (2:30pm Brisbane) Entries for prizes must be in by now
4pm (3pm Brisbane) Demos, prizes, drinks

(Each official venue will stay open for as long as a local organiser is happy to stay around - pizza dinner will be provided for those who want to stay and continue hacking)

There will also be 10 minute tutorials on some useful tools and data services that some may want to use. Those present can choose to watch these or not (ie feel free to continue hacking throughout or to stop to learn about these). The tutors will be available for further discussion if you want.

  • Open source geospatial tools (Cameron Shorter, LISAsoft)
  • PSMA data sets and services (David Fennessy, PSMA)
  • CSIRO's Spatial Identifier Reference Framework (SIRF) (Paul Box and Rob Atkinson, CSIRO)
  • Basemap (for plotting data on maps in Python) (Lachlan McCalman, NICTA)
  • Cesium and Subspace (Keith Grochow, NICTA)
