How to use GVExport
To access GVExport, in webtrees, click Charts, then select GVExport from the list.
On the side bar there are many options available to configure the ouput of GVExport. For more detail on specific options, see Details information on each option.
Let's generate a basic family tree output. You want to include yourself, as well as your grandparents, parents, your children, and any other blood relatives in these generations. You also want to include spouses of anyone in the tree.
The first option is "Include anyone related to", select yourself in this box. GVExport allows you to select multiple starting people but for now, we will stick with just yourself as the starting person.
Select "Include Ancestors" and enter 2 in this field. You want to go to your grandparents' generation, which is 2 generations of ancestors.
Select "Siblings", "Cousins", and "Partners" from the "Include" option.
Select to include Descendants and enter 1 in this field. One generation of descendants will include your children, but not your grandchildren.
Let's leave the rest of the options as their default, and skip down to the "Output File Type". Choose "JPG".
You will have noticed that as you made changes, the diagram on the page has been updating. You can drag it to move around if it doesn't all fit. You can click the X in the corner of the settings window to hide this box, then click the "Show Selection" button against the side to show the options again.
Once you're happy with the output, click "Download" to generate the JPG file.
That's it! You've generated your first GVExport family tree.
GVExport isn't only useful for downloading diagrams. You can use it to track progress as you build your tree, and can click on an individual to open the webtrees page for that person.
For more detail on specific options, see Detailed information on each option.
