To access GVExport, in webtrees, click Charts, then select GVExport from the list.

On the side bar there are many options available to configure the ouput of GVExport. For more detail on specific options, see Details information on each option.

Generate basic output

Let's generate a basic family tree output. You want to include yourself, as well as your grandparents, parents, your children, and any other blood relatives in these generations. You also want to include spouses of anyone in the tree.

The first option is "Include anyone related to", select yourself in this box. GVExport allows you to select multiple starting people by clicking the arrow on the next line to add the individual PID to the box, then you can search for another person and add them. For now, we will stick with just yourself as the starting person.

Leave the "Stop processing on" fields blank, then select "Include Ancestors" and enter 2 in this field. You want to go to your grandparents' generation, which is 2 generations of ancestors.

Select "Siblings", "Cousins", and "Spouses" from the "Include" option.

Select to include Descendants and enter 1 in this field. One generation of descendants will include your children, but not your grandchildren.

Let's leave many of the options as their default, and skip down to the "Output File Type". Choose "JPG".

Let's preview the output first. Click "Update" to have the family tree generate on the page. You can drag it to move around if it doesn't all fit. You can click the X in the corner of the settings window to hide this box, then click the "Show Selection" button against the side to show the options again.

Once you're happy with the output, click "Render serverside" to generate the JPG file. Note that GraphViz needs to be installed on the server for this to function.

That's it! You've generated your first GVExport family tree.
