My roommate @macallmcqueen completed the tutorial and one mission in Newberg while I watched. Here is a series of notes from that:

  • wanted the sing in button to say #/up (related to Login/# text should be consistent #609)
  • didn't notice white arrow pointing to curb ramp in tutorial for awhile, wanted a brighter color
  • found labeling sound satisfying
  • kept trying to drag the label type buttons onto the pano instead of clicking on them
  • didn't quite understand "points into traffic" just from reading tutorial (not surprising, tbh)
  • No Sidewalk maybe we shouldn't say "hmm" when they get severity wrong -- b/c they can't even see the other side of the street (how would they know?)
  • they suggested a having a short list (accompanied by an image) showing most important things to look at when rating severity, possibly at the end of the tutorial (a similar thing was suggested by Roy in Feedback from highly engaged Newberg citizen #1524)
  • They want the info about how to label more accessible within the interface (popups within the context menu)
  • The precise feedback in the tutorial for label tags can make it seem like the task is hard and users are not qualified to label (this point worries me -- I don't want to intimidate users with the tutorial and demotivate them)
  • Would like a video explaining what the important factors are in labeling (insert videos into tutorial instead of so much text)
  • the double click in circle in tutorial looks like a button, so they didn't realize later on that they could double click anywhere
  • they were leaning towards preferring a likert scale w/ 3 options
  • wants the thumbnails for severity ratings to be bigger (I agree)

And here are some other things that she either mentioned or I noticed while she was going through the tutorial that I have already created issues for: #1545 #1546 #1547

This is great feedback and should likely be discussed. We also have our HCDE 298 feedback (a giant amount) that we need to talk about and prioritize.
