This tutorial provides basic overview how to enable your PC running Ubuntu & ROS to communicate over Ethernet POWERLINK.

What is included

  • POWERLINK Installation Guide for Ubutnu distributions
  • ROS CPP sources for basic communication over POWERLINK using CiA401 profile
  • B&R Automation Studio project configuration using B&R X20CP series PLC and CiA401 profile external fieldbus device

Hardware requirements

  • B&R PLC X20CP14F84 or similar openPOWERLINK compatible PLC
  • Linux PC ideally with i210 based Ethernet Controller

Software requirements

  • Ubuntu 14.04 LTS + ROS Indigo (should work on 16.04 LTS + Kinetic)
  • B&R Automation Studio
