Use Case: Access Site

narrative: the user types the URL of the discovery tool or follows a link on an existing web page. the application loads with the "home" page in focus. The page provides a description of the tool and how to use it. The user accesses individual tools via a menu in the site header.

Steps:

  1. User types URL and presses the ENTER key.
  2. System provides the application with home page in focus.
  • 2a: The site is down, and the system provides an explanatory alternative web page.
  1. The user chooses one of the following tools from the menu: People; Collections; Topics.
  • 3a. The system fails to load the tool, logs the error in the application database, and provides the user an explanatory alternative web page.
