I just tried to launch Live Dev on a Ubuntu installation without Chromium installed.
For a short time there was a error message (should be visible in the video), then Brackets crashed.

See this video.

Env: Ubuntu 12.04 running in VirtualBox 4.3

This isn't the problem.
The problem is, Brackets is intended to show an error message (right behaviour), but not to crash ;)

@SAplayer Do you still see this issues with the Sprint 33 build? I get the error message all the time.

I still get error 2, but Brackets doesn't crash (right behaviour).

My steps (think the same as original repro):

  1. Uninstall Chromium
  2. Restart Ubuntu (not the VM)
  3. Start Brackets Sprint 33
  4. Start Live Preview

Closing.
