Moving from MIT to Apache 2.0 License #131
Comments
Apache 2.0 is very similar to MIT license. Both are the most permissive variants of open-source licenses. However, Apache 2.0 offers better patent protection for the individuals or organizations using the software, and there is a requirement for all amendments to the name or code or parts of the software to be noted down and prominently shown, along with the license. This offers better protection and visibility for downstream users of software built on software licensed with Apache 2.0. Examples of open-source projects using Apache 2.0 license includes Google Puppeteer, Apache Hadoop, Amazon Alexa, Tesseract OCR, Tony Beltramelli's pix2code, Robot Framework, Pachyderm .. |
--> pending AI Singapore's confirmation of the legal entity to publish the Apache 2.0 license under |
