Raising an issue to track considerations and discussions on the move from MIT to Apache 2.0 license.

Below are useful references showing differences between different open-source licenses. Check the comment below for more details and examples of Apache 2.0 license being used in open-source.

Apache 2.0 is very similar to MIT license.

Both are the most permissive variants of open-source licenses.

However, Apache 2.0 offers better patent protection for the individuals or organizations using the software, and there is a requirement for all amendments to the name or code or parts of the software to be noted down and prominently shown, along with the license. This offers better protection and visibility for downstream users of software built on software licensed with Apache 2.0.

Examples of open-source projects using Apache 2.0 license includes Google Puppeteer, Apache Hadoop, Amazon Alexa, Tesseract OCR, Tony Beltramelli's pix2code, Robot Framework, Pachyderm ..
