Issues like https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/MNG-6965 and the fast pace of recent Maven improvement means we should enforce a policy of supported versions.
For reference, the current main branch works fine on 3.8.x but fails in 3.9.x. We should test at least last 2 o 3 Maven versions.
