Compiler errors on Windows

I was able to get the source and generate project files, but when I try cmake --build . --config=Debug I get a bunch of errors.

There's a lot of errors like these:

C:\msys64\mingw64\include\stdlib.h(405,16): error C2059: syntax error: '__declspec(noreturn)' (compiling source file D:\dev\aws-sdk-cpp\src\aws-cpp-sdk-core\source\platform\windows\OSVersionInfo.cpp) [D:\dev\aws-build\src\aws-cpp-sdk-core\aws-cpp-sdk-core.vcxproj]
C:\msys64\mingw64\include\math.h(220,13): error C3861: 'volatile': identifier not found (compiling source file D:\dev\aws-sdk-cpp\src\aws-cpp-sdk-core\source\utils\DateTimeCommon.cpp) [D:\dev\aws-build\src\aws-cpp-sdk-core\aws-cpp-sdk-core.vcxproj]

and

C:\msys64\mingw64\include\malloc.h(82,10): fatal error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'mm_malloc.h': No such file or
directory (compiling source file D:\dev\aws-sdk-cpp\src\aws-cpp-sdk-core\source\utils\event\EventStreamEncoder.cpp) [D:\dev\aws-build\src\aws-cpp-sdk-core\aws-cpp-sdk-core.vcxproj]

Based on your error message, it seems that you are attempting to build the aws-sdk-cpp with the MinGW toolchain on Windows which we unfortunately do not currently support. There is a PR in draft for the feature here: #1333

Ok I see. It wasn't intentional to use the MinGW, I think my cmake was setup to use as default, maybe.
I tried cmake with the flags -DCMAKE_C_COMPILER=msvc -DCMAKE_CXX_COMPILER=msvc. It was getting the right compiler but I had this

-- Found ZLIB: C:/msys64/mingw64/lib/libz.dll.a (found version "1.2.12")

I wasn't sure how to change the zlib path in cmake. But I was able to uninstall MinGW and after that, the process compiled and installed.

@jnmaloney sounds great! I am glad you were able to compile the SDK and did not intend to use MinGW.
