The Steam version of Half-Life, and its two expansion packs, Opposing Force and Blue Shift has official support from Valve in:

Unfortunately, the bug reports are not resolved immediately
This is where the Fanpatch comes in; the Fanpatch fixes some bugs reported by fans in the official repository, but don't closed. The goal of the patch is to ensure keep updated through the efforts of its fans
