By opening up and managing services, products and data in a way that machines and developers understand, it will be possible to integrate with other data, processes and algorithms, leading to new business opportunities. A programmable web, formed by a network of connected services, products, data and devices, each doing what it is good at, is the future of the Internet as we know it.

Rather than talking about spatial data we talk about data, because basically there isn't any difference in best practices for publishing it on the web. On top of that, the data needs to be programmable, both by machines and developers. So whether we are talking about Big, Crawlable, Linked, Open, Closed, Small, Spatial or Structured Data: our starting point is that it needs to be machine-friendly and developer-friendly, making it as programmable as possible.
