The development of GLUE was driven by the goal of supporting a wide range of research projects within the Gifford Lab, recognizing the commonalities in genomic analysis techniques across diverse scientific contexts. By designing GLUE to address these overlapping needs, it became possible to develop the platform without the need for explicit funding dedicated to GLUE itself. Instead, its development has been closely tied to its contributions to various funded research initiatives, spanning several types of genomic resources for viruses.
