Title: 'Realtime route learning and vehicle tracking using web-technologies on a mobile device'

formerly PT Tracker: 'Real-time tracking of Melbourne's public transport network using web-technologies on a mobile device'

Description: the general purpose of this project is to explore the possibilities of using a cross-platform development environment, and typical sensors found on most modern mobile devices, for large-scale route learning and tracking of vehicles on a route.

Melbourne's public transport network is a good candidate for testing as it is a well known and constrained system. The network stretches over several kilometres and is known to have predefined travel routes. This research exhibits potential for applications in mobile robotics, such as unmanned aerial vehicles.

With the help of frameworks that enable native mobile application development using web-technologies (such as HTML5+CSS3+JS), it is possible to investigate large-scale tracking using everyday smartphones.
