Important part of scanning head is special plastic part - "disc" which holds another elements of scanning head. I made this "disc" from liquid plastic, but it can be made with 3D printer or CNC. See 3D models link.
-
PCB - 2-layer PCB, ordered in SeeedStudio. Price for one piece: $1.5. PCB size - 25x50mm. See PCB link.
I will publish PCB BOM later.
-
Lens is M12, f'=16mm, 1/3 inch. There a lot of them in Aliexpress. Price: ¥13.00.
-
Lens holder is used co attach lens to PCB by screws. Distance between PCB holes: 18mm. I buy it at Taobao: Link Price: ¥0.50.
-
Laser module. 780 nm 3.5mw. I buy it at Taobao: Link. Price: ¥5.50. I have placed this laser module to metallic tube (6mm diameter, ~25mm length).
-
Slip ring module is placed inside a hole in "disc". My module has 6 electric lines. I buy it at Aliexpress. It's parameters: 12.5mm 300Rpm, diameter - 24mm, length - 15mm. Price: $7.5.
-
Paper encoder disc. It's printed at laser printer and glued to plastic "disc" to it's bottom. This encoder disc has 15 white sectors and 15 black sectors, but one white sector particle repainted to black - it is zero mark.
-
Screws, metallic plate to hold laser module, 3 small metallic plates to hold slip ring inside "disc".
-
Plastic base plate - 5 mm thick. It has big 2 holes for motor and bearing, 4 holes for "legs", 3 holes for holding bearing. This part can be made with 3D printer or CNC. See [3D models] (https://github.com/iliasam/OpenSimpleLIDAR/tree/master/3D_models) link.
-
Ball bearing - 6806ZZ. This bearing connect base and scanning head.
-
Motor - used to rotate scanning head. This is simple 3V DC motor - 24mm diameter.
-
Encoder - reflection type optical pair with NPN phototransistor, placed on tiny PCB. I take it from broken printer.
-
PCB. This one contains linear voltage regulator for motor, and connections for slip ring, encoder, power wires and UART wires.
-
Screws, metallic "legs", metallic plate used to attach motor to base plate.
