Problem Statement

Americans are losing their vote because thousands of mail-in ballots are rejected for simple mistakes. These rejected ballots could prove to be critical for the election – particularly for battleground states.

Solution:

A mobile site for tracing your ballot, voting online--if you choose to do so, animated GIF instructions without words, and addresses and helpful information on voting.

Name

myVote

Prototype

Concepts

  1. 2 Main Actions on myVote
  • Authorize a ballot (like authorizing a new credit card)
  • Trace a ballot (where is my ballot along the voting process timeline?)
  1. Supportive role for myVote
  • Video tutorials without words. Clear, concise demonstrations of instructions to appeal to the largest audience.
  • Locations for service & polling stations, 24-hour Ballot Drop-Off Boxes, and how to send by mail.
  1. UX considerations for online voting. Ballots have gone through literally 100s of years of trial and error. A mobile interface is perfectly suited to replicate the experience of voting by hand--coloring circles are like radio buttons, writing in a ballot is like a text input field. Everything will feel familiar to the user about voting this way. ANY change or addition to the UI should be carefully vetted to this--the oldest--American Design System.
