Wave encoder

Jeremy Herbison edited this page Feb 24, 2025 · 1 revision

An implementation of the Waveform Audio File Format, capable of storing uncompressed LPCM audio on a filesystem.

Wave files are the most basic container for storing lossless LPCM audio. Compared to FLAC or ALAC, Wave files use about twice as much space, and there is no accepted standard for storing useful metadata. It is however very fast to work with, and extremely compatible.
