Group/filter variables

If I have a lot of module imports, functions and classes, the variables view quickly gets overloaded.

It would be great to have them grouped in a single tree node or filtered through checkboxes.
It might also help to focus, if I could distinguish between local (e.g. cell or function) and global variables. Again, it could be solved by group tree nodes or checkbox filters.
