This is a placeholder issue, as we seem to be missing specification for /ws and /wss.

Which codebase/package would be the best "source of truth" to start documenting things?

No opinion. You can find the Rust implementation here. Note however the missing support for URL paths.

Probably js <-> go. But they should all be interoperable according to our tests. The path to connect to is not well defined and may benefit from the httppath proposal.
