v 0.13
Version 10.0.18363 Build 18363

Did not occur immediately after installing 0.13. Some time after. Noticed it first today.
So ugly. Burn it with fire, please.
Notification area icon seems unaffected.

Hi @DavidGretzschel
not sure if this is a PowerToys bug or a Windows bug.
Beside adding an icon to the application, we don't do anything else.
If the icon was shown when the application was installed and later Windows assigns a different icon to it, I'm not sure there is anything we can do about it.

I'm on Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.18363.476] and it came up correctly. weird.

did you do an upgrade from 0.12 to 0.13?

Trying to figure out how to repro it as it could be an installer issue.

Bug happened again. This time I uninstalled PowerToys, deleted the %appdata%-stuff (but not the registry nonsense, cause I don't yet know how) and installed 0.14.

This time I uninstalled PowerToys 14. Deleted %appdata%/../local/Microsoft/PowerToys. Deleted all the registry entries, rebooted and the wrong icon was shown immediately.

the shift to MSIX / Store (#413) should make this a non-point. I don't think anyone on the dev team has been able to reproduce this as well.

I've been facing a similar issue now. It could be related to reinstalling many times cause I've been doing that a lot while testing out my changes. But I've tried uninstalling/rebooting and then installing the 0.14.1 release from the MSI installer but I'm still getting this entry with a missing icon. Not sure when it started happening.

Closing this as won't fix since it applies to MSI and we won't release MSI anymore.

Even if we brought the MSI back, this is still an external issue: it's a Windows bug that can randomly hit any application and there is nothing we can do in PowerToys to mitigate the issue.
An internet search will show plenty of reports of such bug effecting random applications.
