According to debian packaging manual, site packages should be located under /usr/lib/python3/site-packages. Still, the debian package installs the mkchromecast python package under /usr/share/mkchromecast, causing all sorts of troubles. This is really related to #166.

I need to make a new PR for this - I have refined the commits above somewhat. However, in order to do this I need a new branch - either a rebased debian branch or something else.

Why not just create a tag for current debian branch which builds 0.3.8.1 and rebase that branch after that? Or something else, it's your repo. As soon as there is a suitable branch, I'll make a PR against it.

Fixed in [c576a98] together with upstream changes in #173
