The software uses semantic versioning.
Please see semver.org
The following canonical versions are also used:

v0to point to the latest major release:0.X.X -
v1to point to the latest major release:1.X.X- none at this time
Currently these are only Git tags. The Git releases only point to the actual releases, also indicated by the semantic version numbers also used for tags.
