Your final project is really not a final project, thinking about it as a "wrap-up assignment" is probably more appropriate. You have a little less than 2 weeks to complete. Project presentations will be Friday, December 12.
The project should be a creative project that is inspired by the concepts we've covered this semester. You should feel free to think non-traditionally, it, by no means, needs to be a "web site" in the traditional sense. You may work together. A few options:
- Extend a previous assignment from this class into a larger project.
- Create a piece of a larger project for another class.
- Port your ICM final to the web (if this makes sense).
- Create something entirely new.
- Learn about a new JS library. Rather than creating one site or project, choose one library to explore and give a short demo of it to the class. Follow the library's getting started guidelines, read through the documentation, try some examples, and build a few experiments of your own. Share with the class what you learned and did, what is the library good for, what is it bad for, what is unique or interesting about this library? A few possible libraries to check out:
- three.js - 3d graphics with WebGL
- paper.js - 2d vector graphics
- two.js - see patapatap - 2d vector graphics
- d3.js - data viz
- popcorn.js - time-based interactive media
- jquery - DOM manipulation, event handling, animation, ajax
- tracking.js - computer vision
- peer.js - WebRTC video chat, p2p connection
Write a sentence about what you think you might work on below and link to a blog post or some other page with more. Consider including a question below for something you have no idea how to accomplish.
- AJ & Pat: A photo negative conversion utility website formatted for mobile. This will be based on what we created during our ICM finals.
- Cole: Thinking about porting my ICM final/pixel sorting/ambient viz thingy to P5. Also interested in building something server side, like wintersmith. Just to see how it might work.
- Marc: I have a couple things I want to extend on with my ICM final, or thinking about jumping into THREE.js to make my project
- Ross: I want to either put my ICM final online or make a silverladder-like website comprising a maze of images, sound, and text.
- Karthik: I want to make a web interface for my pComp light project. It is sort of like how one sets up the WiFi router once with a web interface for configuring different aspects; I want to do this to set thresholds for how sensitive the light sensor/temp sensor would be etc. instead of hard-coding it. I would like to do a visualization of the sensor values over time as well.
- Upasana- Web interface for my ICM Final - Data visualization of cultural events in NY
- Jingwen: I want to make a web page of a poster. All the parts, elements, even a tiny punctuation on the poster will disappear when mouse moves over them, or appear some other animations.
- Maya
- Martin: 1) Port my ICM final - Visualizing the activity of New York Cultural Events 2)DataViz the intensity and path of Typhoon Haiyan with Hagupit (currently otw to the Philippines) which is said to be in similar strength with the former.
- Sehwan: ["I wish"] (http://thinkingclay.com/index.php/i-wish ) - A website to write a season's greeting messages and to send our friends.
- Changyeon: I want to develop my ICM Final project using p5.sound - Getting Voice Input Data from user on the project website.
- Soni: Develop my ICM final - Visualizing NY Times popular articles
- Xi:1) design a webpage for my pcom project using jQuery+D3. 2)Port my ICM final to P5.
