The football players which compose each team in the games in the Kick-Off Series use the sprite technique based on a sprite sheet. A sprite sheet is a performance optimization technique that combines multiple images into a single image called a sprite sheet or tileset.

The following "sprite sheet" image shows a complete animation cycle of a football player in every direction. Each box contains a frame of animation. When these frames are shown sequentially over a period of time, they appear as an animated image.

  • The sprite sheet size is 320 x 176 pixels
  • each sprite is 16 x 16 pixels (20 x 11 tiles)
  • 8 directions
  • 8 running frames
