Dev env issue with Nix python builder

Has anyone run into this before?

Trying to set up the dev environment and I keep hitting this same error when I cd into the directory and haven't had a successful run yet.

Glad the solution was so simple! I'll try to add some GHA test runners for the different OSes soon so that we also have a reference in case there are any issues.

For anyone else running into this: I replicated this using a small test suite that tests the local build environment on all systems. This seems to be an upstream issue in the tests of canopen. As the error message suggests, their tests make some fragile timing assumptions in their network tests. In my testing, this prevented building on Apple Silicon based systems (aarch64-darwin in nix speak).

I pushed a commit to zephyr-nix that overrides the troublesome tests. Upgrading your flake to use the latest version of zephyr-nix should resolve this. To do so, either run just upgrade-sdk or download the current version of flake.lock from this repo.

With the fix, the tests now pass for both Intel and Silicon based Macs. (There's still another issue for arm based linux that I am currently working on resolving).

When running upgrade-sdk I get the following error:

error: experimental Nix feature 'nix-command' is disabled; add '--extra-experimental-features nix-command' to enable it

For anyone else hitting this on aarch64-darwin, change line 107 in the Justfile to:

nix --extra-experimental-features nix-command --extra-experimental-features flakes flake update --flake .

You can also permanently enable it in your nix.conf. In fact that's what the DeterminateSystem installer should be doing by default. A bit surprised you are hitting that...
