visit uneable to launch

Hello,

I just installed visit 3.4.1 on my linux-x86_64-ubuntu22 using the install script. The installation went good. However, when trying to launch visit, the below error popped out:

from env_modules_python import module
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'env_modules_python'

Any detailed step by step suggestion is highly appreciated.

You explain that you used visit_install script to install but was this a build from our website or did you build VisIt yourself perhaps using build_visit?

Also, can you please paste here the command you actually used to launch VisIt?

Thanks for your quick response.

Its a build from your website using the following command:

./visit-install3_4_1 3.4.1 linux-x86_64-ubuntu22 /usr/local/visit

I already have the tar folder in the same directory where the visit_install script located.

I used the below command to launch visit:

/usr/local/visit/bin/visit

Sounds like there is an issue with Python versions. Do any @visit-dav/software-reliability-engineering-sre @visit-dav/visit-developers know if this could be related to using system Python versus our own Python? Or any other ideas?

Hello VisIt Community,

I'm encountering an issue with launching VisIt on my machine running Ubuntu 22.04. I installed VisIt successfully, but when I try to launch it, nothing happens. There are no error messages or logs, and I’ve tried both launching from the terminal and using the GUI

Could anyone provide guidance on troubleshooting this? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
