Hello @Atrophy01 <https://github.com/Atrophy01>. Could you give a bit
more detail on what is happening? When you run bin/visit, it immediately
exits? Is there any chance you could try running bin/visit -debug 5. That
should produce logs, if VisIt is getting far enough along for that. Are
there any messages on the terminal? When I run from the command line, I see
these messages:
Running: gui3.4.1
Running: viewer3.4.1 -geometry 3078x1440+362+0 -borders 29,5,5,5 -shift 17,27 -preshift -12,2 -defer -host 127.0.0.1 -port 5600
Running: mdserver3.4.1 -host 127.0.0.1 -port 5601
Do any of those come up for you?

How did you install VisIt (exact steps please). Which tarball did you download? What is the exact command you are using to try to start VisIt? |

Yes that is what I followed

What are the contents of user/localbin ?
When VisIt 3.4.1 is installed with the visit-install script there should
be at least these items in the directory where you chose to install:
a directory named bin
a directory named 3.4.1
a symlink named current that points to the 3.4.1 directory.
Then command to launch visit is in the bin directory.
So if I downloaded the ubuntu22 tarball for 3.4.1
visit3_4_1.linux-x86_64-ubunt22.tar.gz
<https://github.com/visit-dav/visit/releases/download/v3.4.1/visit3_4_1.linux-x86_64-ubuntu22.tar.gz>
and ran:
visit-install 3.4.1 linux-x86_64-ubuntu22 /my/visit
Then, to launch visit, I would run /my/visit/bin/visit.
Is this the process for installing that you followed (substituting your
own install directory for /my/visit)?

Did you do anything differently on the other desktop? Is it possible
anything went wrong during the install process? I might suggest starting

Hello VisIt Community,
I'm encountering an issue with launching VisIt on my machine running Ubuntu 22.04. I installed VisIt successfully, but when I try to launch it, nothing happens. There are no error messages or logs, and I’ve tried both launching from the terminal and using the GUI.
Could anyone provide guidance on troubleshooting this? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you,
