Creating a new app

1- Generation of certificates and provisioning profiles

  • In Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles, create a new app id, under the form com.[clientname].[appname]. Use the same name as on the S3 server. Enable push notifications.
  • Create a push Production SSL Certificate. If you are using Librelio's paid plans, export the certificate to .p12 format and send it to Librelio.
  • Add an iOS Provisioning Profile for distribution.

2- Submission to the App Store

Log in to iTunes Connect .

Clic on "Manage Your Apps" then "Add New App", then follow the easy instructions

Adding shared secret for subscriptions

If your app features subscriptions (and only in this case), you need to add the "Shared Secret" code to your app. This "Shared Secret" can be generated or viewed in the "In App Purchases" section of your app on iTunes Connect. This shared secret needs to be entered in Application_.plist.

Creating subscriptions

If you want your app to be a Newsstand app, you need to create at least one auto-renewable subscription. Use one of the following IDs:

  • com.clientname.magazinename.MonthlySubscription: monthly subscription
  • com.clientname.magazinename.WeeklySubscription: weekly subscription
  • com.clientname.magazinename.QuarterlySubscription: quarterly subscription
  • com.clientname.magazinename.HalfYearlySubscription: half yearly subscription
  • com.clientname.magazinename.YearlySubscription: yearly subscription
  • com.clientname.magazinename.FreeSubscription: free subscription

If you are using Librelio's Developer or Publisher plans, you do not need to set up your own server to handle subscriptions; otherwise, you need to do so.

In your app description, pursuant to Apple's instructions, you need to "clearly and conspicuously disclose to users the following information regarding your auto-renewing subscription":

  • Title of publication or service
  • Length of subscription (time period and/or number of deliveries during each subscription period)
  • Price of subscription, and price per issue if appropriate
  • Payment will be charged to iTunes Account at confirmation of purchase
  • Subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period
  • Account will be charged for renewal within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period, and identify the cost of the renewal
  • Subscriptions may be managed by the user and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to the user's Account Settings after purchase
  • No cancellation of the current subscription is allowed during active subscription period
  • Links to Your Privacy Policy and Terms of Use
  • Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when the user purchases a subscription to that publication.

Setting up the Atom feed for Newsstand

If you are using Librelio's Librelio's Developer or Publisher plans, an URL can be entered in the Newsstand section of iTunes Connect, which permits automatic update of covers in the App Store. The URL should be entered as follows:
