The X40Y is a horizontal y-gantry that can be mounted as desired on a standard 20mm slotted extrusion frame. The gantry payload mount is a vertical 20x40mm extrusion with a pair of X40F60FBOGIEs that pinch and slide along a 20x40mm horizontal aluminum extrusion that forms the body of the gantry. The X40Y gantry is capable of moving a medium weight z-axis tool heads precisely using a synchronous 6mm belt drive (e.g., GT2). The synchronous belt returns in an extrusion channel and can be driven with a NEMA11 or NEMA14 stepper motor.
Features and functional considerations:
- RepRap stepper driver compatible (e.g. RAMPS 1.4)
- rear frame clearance allows payload to traverse in front of vertical mounting extrusions or anything else attached to back of gantry.
- extrusion frame assembly using standard M5 extrusion brackets allows gantry to be treated as a sructural part of machine frame.
- standard payload mount is a 20x40mm aluminum extrusion that can be used to mount arbitrary toolheads.
