You can search for

a fixed phrase

by putting your search tearms in quotation marks: "salutem et apostolicam benedictionem" searches for the given sequence instead of the occurence of each word anywhere in the charter

a not occuring word

by putting a - in front of the term: salutem -apostolicam searches for every charter containing salutem but not containing apostolicam

the beginning of a word

by putting a * at the end of the word: salu* searches for salus, salutem, salutare etc.

a word with a wildcard for a single letter

by putting a ? in the place of the letter: sal?are searches for salvare, saltare etc.

words in neighbourhood

by putting the words in quotation marks and adding ~ with the maximum of words between the two search terms:

"salutem benedictionem"~4 searches for all charters in which the words salutem and benedictionem occur not more than 4 words apart.
