Y Pulley Mod

This mod is done to maximize the contact area between the shaft and the supporting bearing. This way the bearing can sit flush with the pulley and avoid the situation below.

Note that not all pulleys support this flange and ring removal operation. Genuine Gates do.

Prepare the pulley press and insert a washer, not bigger than the pulley outer ring's inner diameter, to block the screw.

• Remove the outer ring.

• Insert the pulley onto the shaft

• Leave a small gap for the pulley not to rub against the stepper motor, and tighten the grub screws.

• Position the bearing on top of the assembly.
  The bearing might not stay in postion when inserting the assembly. If inserting the bearing first into the mount, make sure not to push it in all the way in.
  By pressing the stepper in the mount, the shaft and the pulley should set the bearing into the final position into the plastic mount.

• For extra clearance you can remove both rings and file 1mm of material from both sides.
